Sand element

Ground mineral grain. Formed naturally by the action of water (ocean and river) on stone over time. The traditional source of silica for glass. Used as aggregate for fine concretes; when mixed with plaster it gives higher temperature tolerance in casting materials such as glass and metal.

Getty AAT: Material consisting of fragmented particles of mostly siliceous rock, specifically as it appears on the surface of a beach or a desert. (AAT 300014341)
